Melt Bar and Grilled: A Northeast Ohio Treasure

I love food.

So when a friend suggested we check out this little place in Lakewood, Ohio called Melt Bar and Grilled, I was ready and waiting to pile into her car and drive off into the Northeast Ohio sunset. Little did I know how much my life would change in that one dining adventure.

The Porky Cheese at Melt Bar and Grilled

Melt is home to what I (and others) like to call the “gourmet grilled cheese.” On two large pieces of grilled bread, a signature Melt sandwich is filled with different varieties of meats and cheeses, all melted together and served with fresh french fries and coleslaw. Believe me when I say you will not walk back out onto the streets of Lakewood hungry.

The sandwich combinations available range from the mild, like the Porky Cheese (honey ham, bacon, and swiss cheese) to the wild, like The Dude Abides (homemade meatballs, fried mozzarella sticks, marinara, provolone, and romano.)

I know, I know. It sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen, right? But does the food not also look like it is totally worth it? Apparently shows such as Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food” and Food Channel’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” thought so, because both shows featured Melt. Check out a clip below from the latter.

One of the only downfalls for the customer is the wait time. Melt Bar and Grilled is a popular place in Northeast Ohio, and wait times are anywhere from forty-five minutes to an hour and a half. And that is on a good night. But the eatery’s bar provides patrons the opportunity to grab a beer or other beverage before being seated, and the staff of Melt provide pleasant conversation while waiting. The time will fly by faster than you can ever imagine.

And the food is totally worth it.

Check at Melt at their website, or by visiting one of their two locations in Lakewood, Ohio or Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

And don’t forget; COME HUNGRY!
