Today, August 15, 2011, marks a day that will go down in the “Supernatural” family’s history.
Clif Kosterman (bodyguard for Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) tweeted about a new project for “Supernatural” fans around the world to participate in. His simple request: send a rubber duck with your name and location.
Accompanying the tweet was a picture of the cult show’s two stars, Padalecki and Ackles (see left), and the project garnered immediate attention and adoration from the fans. Because who wouldn’t want to miss out on the chance for one of the boys to read your name on the bottom of a rubber duck?
Personally, I already have an evening trip to Walmart marked on my schedule.
To anyone outside of the “Supernatural” fandom, the idea of sending rubber ducks to Vancouver is probably a ridiculous waste of money. The ducks will just collect dust somewhere, or be thrown out after the cast has had there fun.
And maybe they will, but that’s not the point. The point (in my humble opinion) is that the cast wants to show their appreciation to the fans who have stuck with them for the last six years. Who have gone to conventions, voted in online polls until their fingers bleed and are willing to buy copies of magazines for people around the world.
The point, my friends, is to show that we’re not just fans. We’re a family.
So I salute you, Clif and the rest of the cast and crew, for reminded all of us that among our ship wars and constant fighting we’re still the “Supernatural” family. And we’ll always come together to show our boys how much we appreciate all their hard work.
So rock on, Duck Nation. And rock on “Supernatural.”
