She’s done it again.
Carrie Underwood, famous for songs such as “Before He Cheats” and “Cowboy Casanova” (among many others) released her new video for “Blown Away.” And the country star will be blowing many viewers away.
The video stars Underwood as a troubled girl with a less-than-desirable home life as she escapes the wrath of a tornado and her abusive, alcoholic father by hiding in an old storm shelter. The video shares a few similarities to the famed Wizard of Oz, like a small dog, a yellow-road, and a glimpse of a scarecrow tucked away in the corner. But there are also major differences like the setting being Oklahoma instead of Kansas and the definite lack of the “there’s no place like home” feeling.
Beyond the story, the video itself is a visually-pleasing. The dark colors mixed in with good special effects and hauntingly beautiful sets makes the four minutes and 41 seconds feel like a full length film.
So congratulations, “Blown Away” team! You’ve managed to prove that music videos can still look good and have something to say.
